June Bottles and Brushes

Bottles and Brushes Recap: A Splash of Summer at Cat-n-Bird Winery

On the warm morning of June 21st, creativity and community came together once again for our Bottles and Brushes event at the beautiful Cat-n-Bird Winery in Chelsea, AL. From 10AM to noon, 27 guests (yes, two over our sell-out max!) gathered to sip, snack, and paint under the Alabama sun.

We set up in the winery’s covered outdoor space, nestled beside their barn and within view of the grazing horses. The charm of the setting added a peaceful, welcoming feel that set the tone for a relaxed and joy-filled morning.

Our featured project was a Lilly Pulitzer-inspired jellyfish design, painted on canvas tote bags. The artwork was intentionally designed to be highly customizable, giving each participant the freedom to create something unique—without the pressure of perfection. The laid-back vibe meant every brushstroke could be approached with joy instead of judgment, making space for fun, laughter, and a few spontaneous design choices.

This event welcomed participants of all ages, from kids to adults, which brought an even greater sense of community to the tables. It was a reminder that creativity doesn’t belong to any one age group—it’s for anyone willing to show up and try.

Each guest was welcomed with a glass of wine or a mimosa upon arrival and invited to enjoy a light charcuterie spread if they wished. Every painter received their own "kit," complete with a canvas bag, a set of brushes, and a paint palette—all bundled together with a cheerful yellow gingham ribbon. Guests also had the option to have their bag taped off for clean, crisp edges or to go freestyle.

Green tablecloths brightened up the event space, and mason jars filled with water and simple florals doubled as brush rinse cups—a charming and functional touch that added to the relaxed, garden-party aesthetic.

The setting couldn’t have been more perfect. Cat-n-Bird Winery, recently voted Best of the Best for 2024 in both Wine Selection and Wedding/Event Space, is known for its curated selection of international wines. Although the winery doesn’t have its own vineyard, it imports grapes and juice from across the globe—offering varietals like Italian Montepulciano and Australian Cabernet Sauvignon. And now, thanks to the recent launch of the Spitting Llama Brew Company, guests can enjoy an evolving selection of locally-crafted beers, too.

Whether you're there for a tasting, a party, or just an afternoon glass of wine and live music, Cat-n-Bird provides a welcoming and picturesque escape from the everyday. I’m so grateful to have hosted Bottles and Brushes at a place that so beautifully supports local makers, artists, and creatives.

To everyone who joined us—thank you for showing up with open hearts, open minds, and a willingness to play with paint. We can’t wait to create with you again soon.

Cheers to color, community, and creativity. Until next time.

What are the participants saying?

“I had such a fun time at Bottles and Brushes with Taylor! It was the perfect morning—mimosas, painting, and laughs with my girls. Taylor is super talented and really puts so much care into everything. From the cute ribbons and fresh flowers with our supplies to painting on tote bags (which I loved and will actually use!), every detail made it feel extra special. I’m already looking forward to her next event!”
